응용 프로그램

Plastics Industry

  • Barium stearate is mainly used as a heat stabilizer, lubricant, and mold release agent in the plastics industry. In polyvinyl chloride (PVC) processing, barium stearate can absorb hydrogen chloride (HCl) released during thermal degradation, preventing polymer discoloration and performance loss. Compared with cadmium or lead stearates, barium stearate exhibits low toxicity and excellent thermal stability, making it suitable for environmentally friendly PVC production.
  • During processing, barium stearate forms a uniform lubricating film between the polymer and the equipment, reducing friction, minimizing mold wear, and improving melt flowability. It is often used with calcium and zinc stearates to create Ba-Ca-Zn composite stabilizer systems, enhancing heat resistance, transparency, and mechanical strength.
  • Barium stearate is also used in polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and ABS to improve melt flow and pigment dispersion, and in engineering plastics such as polycarbonate (PC) as an internal lubricant for better processing and demolding.

Rubber Industry

  • In the rubber industry, barium stearate functions as a lubricant, mold release agent, and vulcanization aid. It enhances compound homogeneity and reduces friction during mixing, resulting in improved mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber.
  • In natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, and butadiene rubber, barium stearate can promote crosslinking reactions and increase curing rate and tensile strength. It also forms a protective film on molds, facilitating easier demolding and ensuring smooth surface finishes.

Coatings and Inks

  • Barium stearate acts as a drier, matting agent, anti-settling agent, and dispersant in coatings and inks. It accelerates polymer oxidation reactions, reducing drying time and improving gloss.
  • In alkyd, epoxy, and acrylic systems, it enhances flow, prevents pigment settling, and improves storage stability. In powder coatings, barium stearate serves as a flow modifier, preventing caking and enhancing film smoothness.
  • In anti-corrosion coatings, barium stearate interacts with pigments to improve adhesion and rust resistance of the film.

Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics

  • In pharmaceuticals, barium stearate serves as a lubricant and flow aid in tablet and capsule formulations, reducing sticking and improving compressibility.
  • In cosmetics, it is used as a thickener, dispersant, and opacity enhancer in pressed powders, foundations, and sunscreens, providing better texture, oil absorption, and adhesion.

New Materials and Other Industries

  • Barium stearate is used in composite materials, friction materials, and cable fillers, improving compatibility and heat stability. In brake pad production, it stabilizes friction coefficients and reduces high-temperature wear.
  • It is also used in paper, textile, and lubricant grease production as a dispersant and stabilizer, enhancing processing and surface quality.
  • In emerging applications such as advanced polymers and eco-friendly coatings, barium stearate is being explored for its thermal stability and processing benefits.

보관 및 취급

  • Store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area.
  • Keep away from moisture, heat, and acids.
  • Seal containers tightly after use to maintain quality.

사용 공지

  • Avoid inhalation of dust during operation.
  • Use protective gloves and masks when handling.
  • Ensure full dispersion for optimal stabilizing effect.
  • PVC Stabilizer System: Barium stearate 0.8%, zinc stearate 0.6%, epoxidized soybean oil 3%, tribasic lead sulfate 1%. Barium stearate absorbs hydrogen chloride and replaces active chlorine, improving PVC’s heat stability and melt flow.
  • ABS Lubrication System: Barium stearate 1%, calcium stearate 0.5%, paraffin 0.8%. Barium stearate forms a lubricating film between polymer and mold, reducing friction and improving surface finish.
  • Powder Coating System: Epoxy resin 45%, curing agent 5%, pigment 30%, barium stearate 0.5%. Barium stearate prevents caking and enhances spray uniformity.
  • Rubber Vulcanization System: Natural rubber 100%, zinc oxide 5%, barium stearate 2%, sulfur 2%. Barium stearate promotes crosslinking and accelerates curing, improving elasticity and abrasion resistance.
  • Tablet Lubrication Formula: Base powder 98%, barium stearate 1%, talc 1%. Barium stearate prevents sticking during compression and improves powder flow.
  • Anti-Corrosion Coating System: Alkyd resin 50%, zinc powder 10%, pigment 25%, barium stearate 0.8%. Barium stearate enhances pigment dispersion and improves film adhesion.
