- Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (SCG) is an amino-acid–based surfactant obtained from L-glutamic acid and coconut fatty acids. It provides excellent foaming, emulsifying, and moisturizing properties, while maintaining extremely low irritation and outstanding biocompatibility. Because of these advantages, it has become one of the core ingredients in mild and sulfate-free personal-care systems.
- In facial-cleansing formulations, SCG functions as the primary surfactant or as a secondary co-surfactant to improve mildness.
